Landslip hits Pune’s Maval Taluka; NDRF team deployed for rescue

A landslide occurred in Patan village, Maval taluka, in the early hours of Monday (July 6, 2026). A section of a hill slope collapsed onto a house, reportedly trapping a family is reported under the debris. The district administration has initiated rescue operations. A 30-member team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has arrived at the site.

The incident took place at around 5.50 am. Heavy rainfall has been lashing Pune district for the past several days. The soil on the hill slope came loose due to the rain and gave way. The debris, consisting of mud and rocks, fell on the house.

The Maval tehsildar and a team from the revenue department reached the site after receiving the information. Local residents also joined the initial rescue efforts. The administration started removing the debris. The rainfall and slush created difficulties in the rescue work initially.

The district administration contacted the 5th battalion of the NDRF in Pune, and the team comprising 30 members left for the site at 5.50 am.

The NDRF team has taken over the rescue operations. The focus is on locating the trapped family members. The officials have not confirmed any casualties so far, however the atmosphere in the village is tense. The State administration is monitoring the situation.

The heavy rainfall has also affected travel between Mumbai and Pune. Traffic on the route has been disrupted. The Mumbai-Pune Expressway and the old highway are both experiencing disruptions. Commuters have reported delays. The weather department has predicted continued rainfall in the region.
