TRB says anomalies in mark list were clerical, did not affect candidates’ results

The Tamil Nadu Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) has responded to allegations of anomalies in the mark list for recruitment of Assistant Teachers to government and government-aided arts and science colleges, and government colleges of education stating that they were “clerical errors” that did not affect the performance of any of the candidates.

“Evaluation and publication of marks were carried out strictly as per established norms,” a press release issued by the TRB read. “No candidate received undue advantage due to clerical mistakes. No aspect of the merit determination process has been compromised,” it added.

It claimed the clerical errors were often introduced at the time of data entry by the candidates. Incorrect entries pertaining to date of birth or certificate number instead of candidate’s name were noticed. All the anomalies were corrected during Certificate Verification in the presence of officials upon rigorous scrutiny of original documents. Only after successful verification were candidates considered for final selection.

“The written examination, answer script evaluation, and publication of marks are conducted independently through established procedures with adequate safeguards to ensure fairness and objectivity,” the release added.
