Gang held for possession of ganja near Katpadi

A gang of seven persons was arrested during a routine vehicle check at a police check post near Katpadi in Vellore along the Tamil Nadu – Andhra Pradesh border for possession of 20 kg of ganja on Tuesday.

The police said the arrested persons were B. Sai Nitin, 23, R. Mahesh, 24, Sri Hari, 21, N. Ayyappan, 29, R. Illavarasan, 24, K. Prasanth, 32 and G. Pichandi, 43. They were residents of Vellore.

The police said that as part of surveillance, they were patrolling the check post near Katpadi when the team intercepted the gang.

They said the gang bought ganja from drug peddlers in the area. A case was registered. Arrested persons were lodged at Central Prison in Vellore. A probe is under way.
