Collector demands swift action to address poor sanitation in Puttaparthi

District Collector A. Shyam Prasad expressed serious concern on Saturday about the poor sanitation conditions in several localities within Puttaparthi municipality in Sri Sathya Sai district.

The Collector conducted a surprise inspection in Karnataka Nagapalli locality of the town and expressed shock at the sight of poor sanitation, heaps of garbage, and stagnant wastewater alongside roads and in residential areas.

Issuing a stern warning to the municipal officials to clear accumulated garbage and stagnant sewage within 48 hours, Mr. Shyam Prasad said public health could not be compromised. “Negligence in sanitation management would attract strict disciplinary action,” he said.

The Collector directed Revenue Divisional Officer (Puttaparthi) P. Suvarna to supervise the sanitation works and ensure continuous monitoring at the field level. Municipal Commissioner Srinivasulu was directed to deploy additional workers and machinery to complete fogging, anti-larval spraying and waste clearance on priority.

The Collector urged residents to avoid water stagnation in and around their houses. “Community involvement is essential to eliminate mosquito breeding. We are committed to making Puttaparthi dengue-free. All residents should cooperate with civic authorities to maintain clean surroundings and promptly report sanitation issues to officials,” Mr. Shyam Prasad said.
