Milad-un-Nabi preparations begin – The Hindu

With Milad-un-Nabi scheduled to be celebrated on August 26, corresponding to 12 Rabi al-Awwal according to the Islamic calendar, the Markazi Milad Juloos Committee is busy making arrangements and seeking clearances and permissions for the central procession scheduled for the same day.

According to the committee, the procession route this time will remain the same as last year. The juloos is expected to begin after the Zohar (afternoon) prayers from the Mecca Masjid. It will then move to Gulzar Houz, Madina Building, Salar Jung Museum, Darul Shifa, Purani Haveli, Kotla Alijah and Bibi Bazaar before culminating near Volta Hotel.

“Markazi Milad Juloos Committee president Kamil Pasha, along with others, met Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar and GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan to discuss arrangements and security on that for Milad. We have received a positive response,” said Shujauddin Iftequari, an office-bearer of the committee.

Mr. Iftequari said the representations made to the officials included issues relating to cleaning and sanitation, decorations, requests for the illumination of mosques and dargahs, as was done last year, and the crucial issue of security and traffic management.

The central procession last year witnessed a massive turnout and the organisers expect participation to be on similar lines this year.

“There will be smaller processions which will join the central procession. We will soon issue clear guidelines to everyone to ensure that they maintain discipline and do not inconvenience others,” he said.

Meanwhile, the preparations for the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen’s annual Jalsa Rahmatulil Alameen, which is organised on the eve of Milad-un-Nabi, are under way. The Jalsa is a public meeting which sees an array of Islamic scholars from different sects and schools of thought speaking about the life and teaching of Prophet Muhammad.
