The former Chief Minister has been booked for calling a “Jangi-type” protests to oust the BJP government to prevent its atrocious, anti-people and divisive policies. Political leaders often call for the Jangi (Bangla word) movement to describe the need to unleash stringent or vigorous stirs.
The BJP, however, said the meaning of Jangi is linked to militancy and violence, and the CPI(M) allegedly resorted to violence in the past to gain political mileage. The saffron party took strong exception to the statement of the former Chief Minister.
Mr. Sarkar, in his brief reaction, termed the BJP’s attempt to lodge police complaints against him as a sinister ploy to divert the attention of people from real issues. “I believe they [BJP] have been scared over our resolve to fight them politically, thus they have adopted this tactic,” he stated.
Senior CPI(M) leader and former Deputy Speaker in the State Assembly, Pabitra Kar, on Monday (August 17, 2026) opined that the leaders of the party that performs the most objectionable rhetoric now and then are now engaged in a futile political exercise. He said people understand what is going on and would not get confused from the real issues.
