Export duty on diesel, ATF slashed; petrol unchanged

In their latest fortnightly review, the government further reduced the export levy on diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) whilst keeping the levy on petrol unchanged. Excise duty levied on the fuels domestically remains unchanged.

For the next fortnight commencing October 1, export of diesel would draw an export duty of ₹16 per litre and aviation turbine fuel ₹10.5 on every litre.

Petrol would draw a levy of ₹0.5 per litre.

Following the previous fortnightly review, the export levy on diesel stood at ₹20 per litre and ATF ₹15 per litre.

The government has been conducting a fortnightly review of export levies since March 27, in the backdrop of the conflict in West Asia. This is to ensure the domestic availability of retail fuels by disincentivising exports.
