Workshop on new SWM and C&D waste disposal held in Hyderabad

A workshop was conducted by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules, 2026, and Construction and Demolition (C&D) Waste Management Rules, 2025, under the National Clean Air Programme on Tuesday (June 23, 2026).

The workshop was chaired by Additional Commissioner, Sanitation, and attended by officials from the Solid Waste Management, NCAP and Environment Protection Training and Research Institute and representatives from the SWM concessionaire agencies.

It discusses a 99-day action plan for sanitation and its status on a circle-wise basis, the SWM rules and C&D rules in light of the Supreme Court directions and government orders, the works of the Swachh Bharat Mission, grievance redressal, the attendance of sanitation workers, and drives for the collection of electronic waste, large appliances, and items of religious significance, as well as the methods for disposing of these items.

The meeting also discussed registration of bulk garbage generators such as institutional buildings, commercial buildings, residential buildings, and involvement of resident welfare associations. Also deliberated upon was the ward level ‘Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan’ for improvement in air quality.
