Survey sketch for Pariyathukavu rehabilitation ready: Collector

The survey sketch for the land to rehabilitate seven Dalit families of the Pariyathukavu settlement at Malayidamthuruth near Kizhakkambalam has been prepared, District Collector G. Priyanka has said.

The survey sketch marking plots of five cents each allotted to the seven families within a 2.69-acre property where they stay has been handed over to the Advocate General to be submitted before the High Court, the Collector informed the District Development Committee meeting on Saturday (June 27, 2026).

The sketch would be handed over to the seven families and the High Court on Monday (June 29, 2026), an official release said.

The land was marked as part of implementing a rehabilitation package announced by the State government earlier this month to resolve a long-pending dispute over the land where the seven families have been staying for decades. The government stepped into the matter after attempts to evict the families from their homes after a family won the rights over the property following a long-standing litigation escalated into a political crisis.

The family of the landowner and residents signed a settlement agreement on June 15 following talks initiated by the government. As per the agreement, the families will get five cents within the property where they live, and the government will build houses for them in the designated plots using sponsorship funds.
