ARISE hubs to come up in high schools in Kerala: Minister

ARISE (AI & Robotics Initiative for School Education) hubs will be set up in high schools as part of raising the general education sector to international standards, Minister for General Education N. Samsudheen has said.

He was speaking after inaugurating a workshop organised by the Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) for high school head teachers and release of ARISE scheme guidelines in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday (August 5, 2026).

ARISE is being implemented through KITE. The ARISE hubs were intended to expand the possibilities of AI and robotics in learning and experimentation, the Minister said.

ARISE would also provide opportunities for students to formulate ideas, do experiments, and develop prototypes. It was being developed as continuation of the ICT curriculum under which students began coding from Class IV, AI from Class VII, and robotics from Class X. They would also be able to develop models of equipment used by the differently abled such as smart walking stick, gas detector, and AI-based smart door lock.

The ARISE hubs will begin using advanced robotic kits available in 2,100 high schools. Selection of schools, academic planning, and training for this would be completed by September.

As part of the government’s 100-day action plan, the 16 projects planned by the department include five being implemented by KITE. Besides ARISE, these include ‘Digital Square,’ ‘Tharapatham,’ School Wikithon, and Cyber Safety Protocol 2026 training.
