The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) announced on Monday (July 6, 2026) that its Epigraphy wing had deciphered three inscriptions copied during the epigraphical survey in the Nallamala Forest between June 11 and 13, 2026.

While the first and second inscriptions were found near the Poleramma temple in Palutla village of Yerragondapalem mandal in Markapuram district, the third one was found in Gangaram Penta village of the same mandal. These inscriptions date back to the 15th and 16th centuries C.E. and were written in the Telugu language and characters.

ASI Director (Epigraphy) K. Muniratnam Reddy said, “The first one records the construction of the cradle pillars (Uyyala-kambbalu) to Goddess Paleramma by Janggam son of Linggabattu of Gurujala. The second one describes a hero named Bepika of Palutla who killed a tiger”.

“The third one records the gift of six putlu of land to God Kanudeva (temple) located in mango garden of the village by Srikara for the merit of his parents on the occasion of Poornima (full moon day),” he said.
