At least 15 Indian tourists have died after a boat capsized near an island off Vietnam’s Phu Quoc on Saturday (July 11, 2026), authorities said.

Search and rescue operations are under way, the Indian Embassy in Hanoi said in a post on X.
The speed boat was carrying 32 Indian tourists and four crew members when it capsized near Hon May Rut Ngoai island, the authorities added.
“In a tragic incident, a boat carrying several Indian tourists has capsized near Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam,” the Embassy said in the post.
Exact details are being ascertained, it said, adding that control rooms have been established at the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City and at the Embassy in Hanoi to provide information and assistance.
