The Mahadevapura Police have registered an FIR against the owner of a rottweiler and his family following an alleged attack on a 12-year-old boy and subsequent criminal intimidation.

According to the police complaint, the incident occurred on June 13 at around 2.30 p.m. in Maheshwari Nagar in Mahadevapura. The complainant, Vipin Vincent, an ex-serviceman, alleged that the rottweiler owned by his neighbour, identified as Shyam, was not properly restrained and was frequently allowed outside the house premises, posing a risk to the public.

The complaint states that the complainant’s son was riding a bicycle on the street when the dog suddenly came out of the gate and bit him on the right side of his body, causing injuries. When the boy’s family approached the dog’s owner regarding the incident, an argument allegedly broke out. The complainant alleged that Shyam, along with his wife Rajyalakshmi and their son, behaved aggressively, justified the dog’s actions, and threatened the family with consequences if they pursued legal action.

Based on the complaint, the Mahadevapura police have registered a case under Sections 291, 351(2), 351(3), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, relating to negligent conduct involving animals and alleged criminal intimidation.
