German Foreign ​Minister Johann Wadephul and ‌his U.S. counterpart ​Marco ⁠Rubio will discuss a new burden-sharing arrangement ‌within NATO at a ‌meeting in Washington ‌this ⁠week, Mr. Wadephul said ⁠on Monday (June 29, 2026).

Mr. Wadephul and Mr. Rubio will discuss “how ​we ‌can achieve a new burden-sharing arrangement within the alliance ‌and secure stable, long-term ​support for Ukraine at ⁠next week’s NATO summit in Ankara.”

“Support ‌that will make Moscow realise that it is finally time to end ‌the killing in ​Ukraine and come to the ⁠negotiating table,” Mr. Wadephul added ⁠in a statement.
