Watch: History of Cauvery water-sharing talks between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka

Archived records from The Hindu show that in the mid-1980s, then-Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran, or MGR, repeatedly sent senior ministers to Karnataka to seek the release of Cauvery water to protect paddy crops in the delta region. We look back at past diplomatic efforts between the two neighbouring States over the sharing of Cauvery waters.
